Comedy has been going through a revolution. The alt scene is now as main stream as the clubs were once thought of being. Many comedians fit into a pattern and when I go certain places I have trouble telling one comedian from another, but there is a mood shift that is growing. A group of raw, real, and hilarious comics that don't quite fit in anywhere. Jeff Carrisalez is one of those voices. His stories are raw, honest, and don't hold back. One minute he might rant about his time in the marines and the next he will rant about adopting a hooker. There is a visceral feeling in every performance and his voice sounds as gruff as the whiskey he drinks.
I've been able to to witness several performances by Jeff and it's like watching a great act before they get big. Talking with him he claims he isn't likable, which depending upon who you are may be true. If you are like me, someone that loves people that don't bullshit and aren't fake than you will recognize this man's talent immediately.
Much like the punk days of the 80's you won't see comics like Jeff at the clubs that often, and he once told me he does certain rooms as a show of force like when he was a marine and they would march through a town just to let the locals know they weren't going anywhere. It doesn't matter that he doesn't get the prime spots at the club, he makes any room he performs in his own with every story he tells.
You won't see this comedy at just any venue, often it takes place in a bar where the drinks and stories equally flow freely.
