Yesterday I was coming home from work on the expo line train heading towards downtown, getting ready to go out for the evening. As we were about to pull into the 7th and Metro station the power went out on the train. We were stuck in the tunnel. Not long afterward, over the loud speaker, the operator told us that the power on the train had gone out and that we'd have to walk out of the tunnel.
Luckily, cops and Metro employees came about 10 minutes later. I have to thank Metro for acting fast and getting our train's passengers out safely. They even made sure we were safe as another train pulled into the 7th Street Metro center station. Finally, we got to a service door that led us out and back up onto the street. All told, this wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, maybe I don't have a fear of being underground.
