Success in our current culture seems elusive. Many are struggling to just get by and it seems that a few at the top have all the wealth and luck. I used to think this way as well. I was born without luck so therefore no matter how hard I worked it wouldn't matter. This is a self fulfilling prophecy. Never mind that there are examples of self made millionaires across all groups that through sheer determination achieved greatness. What was it that separated them from everyone else? It wasn't their upbringing. They all came from vastly different backgrounds. It wasn't luck, they heard no from almost every person they tried to get capitol from. What was it? They had a strong work ethic. If most people were honest with themselves they'd realize that to be successful requires such intense dedication that even failure won't keep you from going for what you want. It's the Michael Jordan approach, out work your opponent. It's called the Pareto Principle and it not only applies to work it applies to almost every system in nature. Roughly speaking 80% of the rewards come from 20% of the work put in . That means that a small group of people receive the majority of the rewards. What set's them apart? They have the ability to push past failure with such a deterministic attitude that they are the most productive as a result. This is no easy feat and requires sacrifice but if you want to be successful at any thing it requires sacrifice and hard work.
